As you can see in the photographs that accompany these lines, in our House and Basilica of Sant’Andrea della Valle, in Rome, different scaffolds have been mounted to carry out different restoration tasks in the church. This last Wednesday, August 19, 2020, the installation of the external structures was completed, which are located in the main patio and in the small interior laundry patio, which are located in the building in Piazza Vidoni, 6.
On the one hand, two sections of scaffolding have been placed that are destined to support the access and work on a sector of the roof of the Basilica, in order to extract the herbs and bushes that populate the roofs and that extend over some of the gutters that outline the temple.
On the other hand, two other sections of this type of structure have been established inside the temple, in order to be able to work with some deteriorated frescoes – one of which had a detachment of material a short time ago – that are in one and other end of the respective conjunction of the navata and the apse with the transept. These works may last until the end of the year. The intervention in this matter is being carried out under the direction of the Cult Buildings Fund and the Ministry for Cultural Goods and Activities and Tourism (state body that acts through the relevant Superintendency).
In another order, we thank Father Salvador Rodea González, C.R., for sharing the photographic material that we publish here.
