Rome, May 15, 2025 – In a spirit of deep fraternity and ecclesial communion, the General House of the Order of Clerics Regular (Theatines), located in Rome, had the honor today to welcome Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga, C.S.Sp., Cardinal Priest of our Basilica of Saint Andrew of the Valley.
His Eminence was appointed cardinal by His Holiness Pope Francis on November 19, 2016, and since then has maintained a fraternal bond with our community, of which he is the spiritual titular of the Basilica.
During the visit, Cardinal Nzapalainga shared a cordial moment with Rev. Fr. Salvador Rodea González, C.R., the Order’s Superior General, Rev. Fr. Marcelo R. Zubía, C.R., Vicar General, and Rev. Fr. João Marcos Boranelli, C.R., Rector of the Basilica of Saint Andrew of the Valley, together with the other Theatine Fathers and Brothers of the communities of Sant’Andrea della Valle, San Paolo Maggiore of Naples, and San Gaetano of Morlupo.
The meeting was a special occasion to hear first-hand about His Eminence’s experience in Rome, particularly his participation as a cardinal elector in the 2025 papal conclave, which elected the new pontiff, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
We deeply thank Cardinal Nzapalainga for his closeness and testimony of faith, and we raise our prayers for his pastoral ministry and the service he offers to the universal Church.
