The arrival of the Vicar General of the Teatine Order, the Reverend Father Marcelo R. Zubía, C.R., in Malta marked a significant milestone in the ecclesiastical calendar, coinciding with the Teatine Jubilee Year in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Order of Teatine Clerics Regular. This momentous gathering not only revived the rich history of the Order, but also strengthened the spiritual bonds between the Theatine community and the Maltese faithful.

The days were filled with solemnity and fervor, with a full agenda of lectures, Eucharistic celebrations and pastoral visits to parishes and chapels. Father Zubía’s presence not only enriched these events with his wisdom and spiritual leadership, but also inspired those present with his deep commitment to the theatine values of charity, devotion and service.

The conferences delved into the rich Theatine tradition, highlighting its legacy of dedication to the service of God and neighbor. Topics such as the Theatine spirituality, the history of the Order and its relevance today were addressed with depth and passion, arousing the interest and admiration of the attendees.

The Eucharistic celebrations were moments of communion and reflection, where the faithful joined in prayer to pay homage to St. Cajetan, patron of the order, and to renew their commitment to faith and charity. Devotion to St. Cajetan was palpable in every liturgy, in every gesture of veneration, demonstrating the deep spiritual connection that unites the Theatines with the Maltese people.

In addition to his participation in formal events, Father Zubia also spent time visiting local parishes and chapels, where he had the opportunity to get a close look at the vibrant pastoral life of the Maltese community and to share moments of fraternity with the faithful.

The images captured during the visit, courtesy of Ian Pintley and George Sciberras, testify to the intensity and beauty of these encounters, preserving for posterity the moments of grace and blessing that marked the visit of the Vicar General of the Theatine Order to Malta. May this historic event continue to inspire future generations to live with fervor and commitment the Theatine values, in constant search for truth and selfless service to others.
