New Rector of the Basilica of Sant’Andrea della Valle in Rome
With Decree Prot. N. 411/20, of March 1, 2020, the Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome, S.E.R. Mons. Angelo Card. From Donatis, named Rector of the Basilica Sant’Andrea della Valle at Fr João Marcos Boranelli, CR, religious priest of our Theatine Order incardinated in the General House of Sant’Andrea della Valle and the first year student of the Canonical Law Degree at the Pontifical Lateran University.
The Appointment Decree was effective on May 12, 2020.
Regarding Fr. João Marcos, we can point out that he was born in Piraju, S. Paulo, Brazil, on February 23, 1984, made his first theatine religious profession on February 2, 2003, and was ordained a priest on December 5 2009. The Lord bless and enlighten you in this new task !!
On the other hand, the previous Rector, P. Carlos Gómez Ruiz, C.R., will continue his studies of Biblical Exegesis, which he is pursuing in the doctorate cycle at the Pontifical University of Comillas, still remaining in the General House. To Carlos the gratitude of the whole community goes for his almost five years of performance in the animation of our Roman Basilica.
