The Rev. Fr. Salvador Rodea González, C.R., Superior General of the Order of Clerics Regular (Theatines), participated in the celebrations marking the 120th anniversary of the Band of Saint Cajetan in Malta, following an invitation from a community that nurtures a deep and longstanding devotion to our Holy Founder.
Upon his arrival at the airport, he was warmly welcomed by the organizers, who accompanied him throughout the various activities scheduled during his stay.
Among the highlights of the visit was an interview with Radio Maria, during which the Superior General spoke about the charism of the Theatine Order, the spirituality of Saint Cajetan, and the importance of complete trust in Divine Providence. As a sign of communion with the Maltese faithful, he brought a relic of Saint Cajetan, which was received with great devotion.
The visit also included a pilgrimage to the island of Gozo, where he was welcomed by the parish priest of the Marian Shrine. There he learned about the history and spiritual heritage of the sanctuary, venerated the relics of Saint Conrad preserved in the crypt, and signed the Golden Book in remembrance of his visit.
Fr. Salvador also dedicated time to visiting elderly people and the sick, offering them prayer, encouragement, and pastoral closeness, reflecting the spirit of service that characterizes the Theatine charism.
It is important to note that the Theatine Order does not currently have an established community in Malta. Nevertheless, the profound devotion of the Maltese people to Saint Cajetan represents a meaningful spiritual bond with the Theatine family and bears witness to the enduring relevance of the Saint’s legacy, whose complete trust in Divine Providence continues to inspire countless faithful throughout the world.
The Theatine Order expresses its gratitude for the warm welcome extended to the Superior General and entrusts the Church in Malta to the intercession of Saint Cajetan, praying that the Lord may continue to strengthen the faith, hope, and charity of all His people.
