Around August 22, 2020 next past, on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Venerable Vincenzo Maria Morelli, C.R. Bishop of Otranto, some Theatine religious were present in Sternatia, the city that witnessed the last breath of our egregious brother.<\/p>\n

One of these religious was Father Carlos G\u00f3mez Ruiz, CR, a member of the General House of Sant’Andrea della Valle, who had been invited by the parish priest of that city, Don Vito Mangia, to attend the celebrations corresponding to the anniversary that we indicated.<\/p>\n

Part of the experience of Fr. Carlos can be translated into the possibility of gaining knowledge of the style with which Ven. Morelli was making a pastoral visit to his diocese. Thus, from the diocesan Vicar General, he was able to obtain a typewritten copy of the letter announcing the first pastoral visit that the Theatine bishop made to the diocese of Otranto, in 1793. We share, below, some passages from the aforementioned letter:<\/p>\n
