Thanks to the research by Rosella Carloni and the collaboration of Theatine religious, the identity and historical significance of this work have been confirmed.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3963\" data-end=\"3999\">The portrait and its inscription<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4001\" data-end=\"4169\">The portrait includes a clearly visible inscription identifying Lorenzo Gavotti:<br data-start=\"4081\" data-end=\"4084\" \/><strong data-start=\"4084\" data-end=\"4168\">\u00abLAURENT. GAVOTTI TEATINUS EPIS. VENTIM. PR\u00c6POSITUS OLIM S. ANDR. DE VALLE 19.7\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4171\" data-end=\"4440\">This text confirms that it is Lorenzo Gavotti, bishop of Ventimiglia and preposito (superior) at the church of Sant&#8217;Andrea della Valle, a central seat for the Theatine Order in Rome. Another inscription indicates his birthplace in Savona and his episcopal consecration.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"4442\" data-end=\"4481\">Confirmation in historical archives<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4483\" data-end=\"4559\">The archival documents of the Theatine Order corroborate this information:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4560\" data-end=\"4875\">\n<li data-start=\"4560\" data-end=\"4639\">\n<p data-start=\"4562\" data-end=\"4639\">Lorenzo Gavotti appears in the membership register for the years 1617-1618.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4640\" data-end=\"4769\">\n<p data-start=\"4642\" data-end=\"4769\">His entry into the Order of Theatine Clerics Regular on November 1, 1617, at the church of San Silvestro in Rome is recorded.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4770\" data-end=\"4875\">\n<p data-start=\"4772\" data-end=\"4875\">His appointment as bishop of Ventimiglia and role as apostolic nuncio to Switzerland is also confirmed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"4877\" data-end=\"4894\">Research work<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4896\" data-end=\"5155\">Researcher Rosella Carloni, with the support of Fathers Salvatore and Roberto, has accessed archives and collections that allow the display of these high-resolution images, essential for future publications on Theatine history and the life of Lorenzo Gavotti.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1631\" data-end=\"1908\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teatinos.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Lorenzo-Gavotti-CR-web-2025-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19471\" src=\"https:\/\/teatinos.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Lorenzo-Gavotti-CR-web-2025-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/teatinos.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Lorenzo-Gavotti-CR-web-2025-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19476\" src=\"https:\/\/teatinos.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Lorenzo-Gavotti-CR-web-2025-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/teatinos.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Lorenzo-Gavotti-CR-web-2025-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19481\" src=\"https:\/\/teatinos.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Lorenzo-Gavotti-CR-web-2025-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, it has been possible to document and analyze in detail a portrait of Bishop Lorenzo Gavotti, an important member of the Order of Theatine Clerics Regular.
